Official ISPA Segway Polo Rules

Please note the following modifications for Practice and League Play in the United Kingdom.

5.2.1 – Regulation Periods will be 10 minutes in duration (to allow for extra game play)

6 – Replacement of LOB and ROW (as interpreting them is far too difficult to do consistently, whilst challenging the ROW increases the danger to players). They will be replaced with the following Rules: –

6.1 – Any player crashing into the side of another player in a manner which may cause risk of damage to either player or equipment, will be deemed to have fouled and then awarded a penalty 9.

6.2 – Any two players meeting head on or side to side in a manner which may cause risk of damage to either player or equipment, will be deemed to have fouled and both teams will be awarded a penalty 9. If blame CAN be assigned to one player over another, the offending player will receive a penalty 9.

6.3 Any player falling off his own Segway in a manner which may cause risk of damage to either player or equipment will be deemed to have fouled and will receive a penalty 9.

6.4 If a player is deemed to have made a dangerous play by turning in front of another player (whether accidentally or deliberately causing the other player to crash into them), the ‘dangerous play’ rule overrules the crash rule and this player will receive a penalty 9.

9.4 Any interpretation of the rules or lack of rules by a team or player in an unsportsmanlike manner will be disallowed (i.e. no wing suits in goal…)

10.6 Penalty 9 – Player removed from field (an additional rule to increase safety of players and equipment)

10.6.1 The clock will be stopped when a penalty 9 is awarded and restarted when play is resumed

10.6.2 Any player awarded a penalty 9 will be removed from the field for a period of 30 seconds or more at the discretion of the umpire depending upon the severity of the infraction which caused it. All or part of the time awarded may be carried forward into the next chukka.

10.6.3 The player removed from the field will not be replaced for the duration of the penalty.

10.6.4 Play will resume with a Penalty 1 to the Opposing Team.

10.6.5 If a player from each team is involved play will resume with a ‘bowl in’ from the Centre Line.
